MYP Students must learn an additional language in the Middle Years Programme (MYP) as it allows them to gain insight into the characteristics, processes, and techniques of language, as well as the concept of culture, and to recognize that there are many ways of living in the world. Language learning is a requirement of the MYP in each of the program's years. For each year of the MYP, students are engaged in continuous language study of at least two languages.
An international education requires the ability to communicate in several formats and in more than one language. The language acquisition course provides students with a linguistic and intellectual challenge in order to help them have the greatest educational experience possible. Students are given the opportunity to fully develop their language abilities while also having the option of progressing through various phases during the MYP.
